Manufacturing Background
Shanghai Peiner SMAG Machinery was established in 1995 as a German-funded enterprise specializing in lifting, transportation, and material-handling machinery. The business introduced German PEINER technology and follows the management model of the SMAG Group.
The manufacturing operation combines welding engineering, machining, surface preparation, assembly, and product testing for grab systems used in ports, bulk terminals, waste-to-energy plants, steel operations, cement production, dredging, and other material-handling environments.
Grab and Handling Product Families
Mechanical Grabs
Dual-scoop and orange-peel configurations for fine, granular, lumpy, or irregular bulk materials. Selection depends on crane type, rope arrangement, material density, required volume, digging force, and environmental controls.
Electro-Hydraulic Grabs
Self-contained powered grabs for waste, scrap, biomass, bulk material, underwater work, and other applications where electrical supply and operating conditions support the system.
Hydraulic Grabs
Dual-scoop, orange-peel, and timber configurations for excavators and other hydraulic equipment.
Single-Rope Remote-Control Grabs
Wireless remote-control opening can support single-hook cranes and deck-crane operations where a conventional single-rope grab would limit unloading efficiency.
Underwater and Special Grabs
Four-rope underwater grabs, high-capacity multi-rope systems, and application-specific designs can be reviewed for dredging, channel clearing, high-throughput unloading, and unusual material conditions.
Bulk Hoppers and Bale Handling
The product range also includes EHG bulk material hoppers and MBT bale tongs for applications such as terminal transfer and straw-bale handling.
Delivery Track Record
Shanghai Peiner SMAG has delivered more than 7,000 mechanical grabs and more than 5,000 electro-hydraulic waste grabs, in service across major Chinese coastal and river bulk terminals as well as ports in Southeast Asia and Europe.
The company holds ISO management-system certifications and welding certifications including EN 1090-2, EN 15085-2, and ISO 3834-2 — relevant when your project documentation or tender requires certified welding for lifting equipment.
What Determines the Right Grab
- Bulk material and maximum material density
- Particle size, moisture, flow behavior, and abrasiveness
- Required grab volume and target handling rate
- Crane type, rated lifting capacity, and rope arrangement
- Available power supply or hydraulic interface
- Ship, port, plant, underwater, or hazardous operating environment
- Dust-control, leakage-control, wear, and corrosion requirements
- Duty cycle, maintenance plan, and local service expectations
